What additional expenses are associated with a purchase?
This depends on the source of the property, and whether you need a loan to finance your property purchase.
- The Berlin real estate transfer tax is 5% (rising to 6% from January 2014)
- Notary costs, including entry in the land registry, amount to 1.5% of the agreed purchase price
- Allow an approximate fee of 1% of the loan for financing
If you select a property offered to us by a broker, the typical Berlin fee is an additional 6% of the purchase price plus VAT
